How does Jediphone
protect your privacy?

Graphene OS:

Jediphone uses the open source Graphene OS as the operating system which was designed from the ground up with privacy and security in mind. It is the cornerstone of Jediphone’s security and privacy.  

Although there are other privacy-focused operating systems out there, none of them have the ability to run a sandboxed version of Google Play Services allowing you to run big-tech apps securely and conveniently.

Hardware:

Currently, Graphene OS only runs on Google’s Pixel phones because they are the only Android devices which meet the necessary security requirements. Their high end security features include:

  • An isolated radio modem which protects against remote cellular attacks. 
  • Full hardware encryption for the phone’s storage.
  • Verified boot to prevent hands-on infiltration.


In the future, we hope to add more brands and phones as they adopt the necessary hardware security features.

Open Source Apps:

Jediphone comes with a hand-picked suite of the best privacy orientated open source apps. 


Open source means anybody can examine the code - therefore nothing can be hidden (like spyware or trackers). Think of it like solving a complex mathematical equation and then showing everyone how you did it. Anybody can see what you did and use it themselves.

These apps are generally coded by individuals, groups and small companies who want to put privacy and security before everything else. You won’t have to miss out on anything -  except of course tracking, spying and data mining!

There are FOSS apps for everything you need including:

  • Web browsing
  • Instant messaging

  • Navigation 

App Stores:

A whole new world of useful, ingenious and most importantly FOSS and private apps opens up to you through the F-Droid app repository. All apps on F-Droid are completely free, although you can donate to developers if you find their apps useful.


The Aurora Store is an anonymised client for the Google Play app store allowing you to anonymously download, update and search for popular big-tech apps. In short, you can take advantage of the immense number of apps on Google’s app store without having to be signed in or connected to Google in any way.
